Under
the capable leadership of head football coach Dennis
A. Gildea, the "E" Club was originated on
February 6, 1929. An All-American center at Holy Cross,
Coach Gildea arrived on the Everett football scene
in 1926. During his illustrious coaching career at
Everett High School from 1926 to 1954, Coach Gildea
fielded many exceptional teams, such as the championship
clubs of '27, '36, '40, '45.
Over a period of 29 years,
Coach Gildea compiled an enviable
record
of 163 wins, 73 losses, and 30 ties. In that 29 year
span, his teams outscored their opponents 3,563 to
1,506. His defensive genius was exemplified by the
fact that Everett's opponents were held to an average
of less than six points per game.
The "E" Club
takes pride in honoring the memory of Coach Dennis
A. Gildea. His numerous contributions to the famed
athletic history of Everett High School will probably
never be matched. He shall hold always an honored
place in the hearts and thoughts of the "E"
Club membership.
